Proper football, proper ground with propet floodlights and proper advert boards watched by proper fans. Only downside is these places arent built to cope with 4000 away fans. Traffic was a mare on way out - but loved the night."

"In excess of 4,000 of us turned up at Oakwell last night, 4,000 of us with nothing better to do than travel up to South Yorkshire on a work night, to support our team, only to be rewarded with yet another disappointing and frustrating performance.

I obviously cant speak for every Villan in attendance last night, but I'm fairly confident that the very vast majority of that 4,000 following were preparing themselves for the late Barnsley leveler, and had probably been doing so since we took the 60th minute lead. Once again you could see it coming, and the Barnsley players and supporters sensed it too.

When it finally arrived, it was no surprise to anyone inside Oakwell"

Certainly during the first half, there looked as if there could only be a home win on the cards.

Our big name players were hustled, harried, and quite frankly at times, outplayed, by a bunch of nobody's who last season were strutting their stuff in league one.

They're a bunch of nobodys. They aren't top flight and neither are we. They need to realise that money doesn't count for everything in Championship football.

 

Ignoring the many arrogant comments dismissing us as cannon fodder that should have been beaten easily last night (which btw, I can accept slightly more from a side who are genuinely big and haven't dropped out of the top flight for about 30 years or whatever, rather than the million Prem wanabee/self-appointed 'sleeping giant' sides littering the Championship) it's interesting to note how many mention how good a trip to Oakwell is. I've long thought that we must be a dream for away fans. Oakwell is a proper ground, near the town centre, decent parking, huge away end, stewards tend to let away fans stand wherever, away car park etc etc. Must be one of the best away days about nowadays.

 

Good post that. We've had a few threads in recent days with hand picked one sided messages from Villa fans having a go at our club, so it's good to see someone take the time to show not at Villa fans are like that and that some do actually praise us.
