I don't know, but it winds me up. Must be some bizarre contractual agreement with the shirt manufacturer or something.
I've said it over and over. I hate it. Commercialism over tradition at every turn. Still haven't heard anyone come out and justify it.
Whitey has said before a couple of times that the club officials decide and then the matchday officials sign it off.
It doesn’t even make commercial sense at this time of the season. Anyone who was going to buy one has probably bought it by now, and wearing it at Swansea is hardly going to generate much further interest. That green kit has been a shocker - and the issue under armour garments just make it look even more terrible. Red shirts, black shorts.
Well I’ve said countless times how ugly that strip is but they keep wearing it. Winds me up as well! Apparently a good seller though. Suppose if you like green and red mixed…..??
More I think about it, this kit situation is proper balling me off. I know with all the myriad problems at the club at the minute this is pretty insignificant, but it's just another example of how batshit crazy the club has become. We play in red. Unless we're playing away and the home team is playing in red. End of. It shouldn't matter what "the club officials" think. We play in red.
Chelsea v Crystal Palace in the semis at Wembley Chelsea are the designated home team but are in yellow. Weird.
I allus tend to buy the away shirt. But would much rather we play in red if there isn't a clash. Bonkers not to. "We're the red and white army" Not the bloody. "Green with red and white pinstripe army." It doesn't have that ring to it.
