Just a marketing exercise nothing to do with say the club pissing off to Burnley to play it's home games. Problem we fans have is we can't trust any of the parties involved in the mess over Oakwell. They are all either liars or gullible fools who managed to con each other into an impasse over the ground and club sales

You can't call someone gullible and then in the same sentence panic about the club upping sticks to Burnley

So you don't think there's anything in this then that owners from a country where sports teams uproot at the drop of a hat and move to other states never mind cities for a bit of cash wouldn't do this. Yes I'm worried that the team me and my Family have supported for the vast majority if not all its existence is going to be stolen from our town, aren't you?????

Clearly, if we were to move grounds, the logical first step of the plan would be to let the marketing team know, and name the program after the street we are moving from...

    This. It’s such twisted logic.

It’s fine though because ‘Barnsley folk are not gullible’.

I'm not saying there's owt in it, but I think the concern initially stemmed from reports on the official site increasingly referring to Grove Street rather than Oakwell. If you look at things from a Dom Cummings nudge theory type perspective then there would be value in softening supporters up for a move by gently moving away from usage of Oakwell. It wouldn't really matter what the new name is, as it would have no longstanding emotional attachment like Oakwell does and just needs to be something different but justifiable e.g. Grove Street.

I'm not for a second saying that this is what has happened, but if you went to a PR company and asked them for advice on softening up fans for a move away from Oakwell they would suggest similar steps.

Is it less than 3 says since we played a football match? Seems like a lifetime ago....

I get that, and the news is definitely concerning. But linking it to the program is definitely far fetched, especially given the old name was relating to the colour of our home kit, and the new name is relating to the location of the ground.

It might be far fetched but it's a typical PR trick. Its far fetched to think about moving the club's home games to Lancashire but apparently the board have / are considering doing just that.

But what would be the PR benefit of changing "Be Red" to "Grove Street". There would've been more of an argument of a link if we had just made the switch from Oakwell Review to Be Red.

As I said before, the news to come out last night is very worrying. But I think any link from that, to the renaming of the program is highly unlikely.

But it's not just the programme though is it there have been numerous instances were in club statements etc instead of using Oakwell they've used Grove St and it's happened enough that people noticed it and commented on it. It may be ******** but it's strange it's happened at a time this news as broken

It’s been confirmed by Whitey that the increase in ‘Grove Street’ on the website was purely in buildup to the programme rename.
