......Tens, if not hundreds of thousands, of people are now at high risk of losing their homes livelihoods and dying on the whim of a handful of testosterone fuelled 'leaders' squabbling and posturing over meaningless political borders.

Regardless of whichever side of the fence you are on i.e. believe the Western leaders stating Putin is about to invade a Sovereign State , or Putin stating they are not planning anything of the sort, all we innocent pawns know is what propaganda we are being fed, the whole situation is madness and throwback to the cold war.

In any case, the facts are that in a World that has shrunk considerably, with spy satellites, social media, less 'compliant and malleable' populations, and in the region we are talking, a relatively more affluent one, the appetite for full on conflict can only be in the heads of seriously unhinged people.

Putin appears to be one such person. Claims that they are withdrawing can be verified by the numerous orbiting spy satellites that these days can see details down to a few metres. All intelligence and hard evidence does suggest otherwise (or that is what we are being told) However, communications and sharing knowledge of what is happening on the ground between allies is far more sophisticated than a few decades ago meaning 'False Flag' activities are far less likely to go undetected and exposed.

Given the arsenal of WMDs in the hands of leaders on both sides it seems insanity that anyone would consider provoking a war, but, here we are. Depressing that the generation of leaders never experienced the carnage of the two World Wars, and major conflicts like Korea and Vietnam and seem intent on repeating the same mistakes. The ones who start these conflicts always seem to be the ones who stay out of harms way.

At least several hundred years ago kings and Emperors tended to lead the soldiers into battle rather than directing the battle from the safety of a bunker hundreds of miles way from the carnage.

    Rant over!!

I would argue, one leader, the ego maniac that is Putin.
It’s not even like Hitlers Germany, where a despot whipped up a fervour to follow him, most Russians don’t want him either.
Thing is what’s the point of NATO if they don’t stand up to tyrants inflicting their will on other countries .
That’s not a pro war statement btw that’s to me how ypthe state of play seems to be.

The world knows almost instantaneously when something is happening. You can't get away with anything these days without being "found out".
This is surely a good thing, at least there are no doubts.
