Think new additions on paper look quality and will take us forwards. They are must haves as don’t like adding too many but circumstances dictated needed as pervious incumbents reluctance to resign meant we were short. Seems July 1st a significant date as never noticed before but been a few mentions of contract coming to an end. Means we lose Davies but could also be a positive as if other players stacked this way could see a couple of surprises around this date if we play the contract game might see them come in. Think also now coming back together this week might see a few additions. Strikers a must. Current crop I’d say two might do it Moore will get dominated by big Championship defenders so will be a test for him to up his game to next level. Cauley Woodrow think will prove himself as think got attributes to be quality striker and will thrive with challenge given a bit of experience so might take a bit of time to hit level but will defiantly do so I think. Need a couple I think to back up and challenge. Would love a Ashley Ward style player who gives it out and takes out a couple of defenders to make space would be great if Moore steps up to this level as one last season who bullied defenders but this is a new level. All in all think it’ll be a struggle but going to be interesting but hard work. Mid table would be a dream season
I genuinely believe Bahre could be a key playmaker who could unlock defences. If he can improve on certain weaknesses in his game and cut out those mistakes and stray passes his ability on the ball and eye for spotting those 'killer' defence splitting passes could prove invaluable to our forwards. It could go either way as he needs to be more consistent than last season.
Its always a good sign when you're undecided about where or whether to play certain players and excited to see others play.
One of the biggest reasons to be positive for me is that this is the first ever full pre-season with Daniel Stendel at the helm. That's got to be worth its weight in gold. Add to that the fact the signings appear on paper, and through reputation and performances, to be much more Championship ready, even if not Championship experienced, than some of our signings in the past. The contracts are longer, confidence is higher, trust in the recruitment strategy is greater, are own players are re-signing (not all of them granted). There's not much not to like right now for me. Loads more to come over the next few weeks as well on the transfer front.
