Do we really have to go through this every few months?

    Politics means politics.

    We won, get over it.

They only want another vote because they didn't like the last... 73.

    And the like.

    No just ignore it.

They may be less common but I ignore posts about Golf, Cricket, F1 & anything else I’m not interested in.

Maybe the 'new post' link can be edited to offer the poster a choice of title prefix

    For EG

FOOTY: Is it time for Keith Hill to have another go?

NON-FOOTY: Is Prince Andrew really a f****** nonce? Yes, or very yes?

Members can choose to read or ignore

Absolutely not. When things get a section of their own it's always dead. Threads that don't appeal are easy to avoid.

I actually think it might be time, and in the past i've been as guilty as anyone of political posting.

For me it just feels like this board has become a shrill echo chamber of the same 3 or 4 posters constantly referencing every single thing back to Donald Trump and claiming everything they don't like is fascist and it's got a bit wearing.

As SamBFc says though i'm not really that arsed either way.

I think what may benefit the board (if it exists) is for someone to mark a thread "not interested" and then its hidden from there ongoing view of the board.

One for me springs to mind, is generally cricket. I have no real interest in cricket, but I appreciate that others do and it's an ongoing thread. I have no desire for those posters to be moved to another section of the BBS, but if I had the ability to "hide it" I would. Everyone would be happy... I guess.

I voted no, but I'm on the fence really, you should add a "don't know".

To be fair TM you haven’t hidden your leanings under a bushel - referring to ‘leftists’ in a less than positive light.

It is equally ‘wearing’ from the other POV I can assure you.

I don’t see any need to remove - or move - a medium to discuss and debate. Life would be very boring if we all agreed about anything and everything. We do need to be a bit more tolerant and not assume our own opinions to be fact - but it is more than fair to be strong of opinion and to defend it.

A bit of reciprocal respect wouldn’t go amiss - though if I find a view abhorrent - and I have a few on here, not yours as I recall- I will say so.

Another point to consider is that when there's not much Barnsley footy there's not loads to talk about so people will post or react to owt else.
When there's footy the footy threads are busy. Nowt wrong with that of course but it should stay as it is.
Just try and stay civil on politics threads and remember we're all BFC fans and Starmer is a liar :)

I'm all for those that can't appreciate another person's opinion (and going as far as being abusive or hell bent on trying to belittle or continue trying to prove a point as though a victory, even on views of players but moreso on issues that divide opinion.) To take the conversation private. We heard it 1st time.
Eg I found myself having to explain many a point as to why I have a different point on players. Being told I'm wrong. It's an opinion, get over it. Nowt to get angry about. An example The way I had to defend myself on why I preferred Walton over Collins was farcical.

Either move it or punish the repeat offenders who post distasteful things when a bloke gets shot because they have a different opinion to him. But the same people post offensive things when the queen or the pope dies and the threads just get locked move on nothing to see here. But yeah if people can't debate without pile ons and aggression and distasteful comments ban it.

No, because then you're changing the whole ethos of the board from what it's always been. Just don't open the threads you aren't interested in.

I think some people want to move it because they don't want to engage with political posts but are unable to refrain from doing so when they read something they don't agree with... Which I understand, it's a subject many people are passionate about.

I think better labelling in post titles might help as people can refrain from even clicking on them. Ie a "politics" label. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask regular posters to do that. Occasional posters might not pick up on it straight away but typing another word in a title is hardly an inconvenience.

We've had posts with the name of a member, one saying something made them laugh, one just the name of the person shot yesterday, and one just called BBS in the last 24 hours all of which were political but many people would only realise that once they had clicked and read the post. If not a politics tag then at least better naming of posts.

    Exactly.

I didn’t partake in the now locked threads last night.

I reckon most who did ought to have taken the same approach.

I think politics will always come in somewhere. I do think tolerance is needed of different views, unless they involve racist views. I don't enter arguments with those people that disagree with me. They are entitled to their opinion. One or two in the last week have posted semi insults at me for being a snowflake, but I just take that as a badge of honour. I'm just a BFC fan, expressing my opinion.
