Not sure if if it’s been on before but it’s currently on BBC 2 and it has some really good and interesting features of this brilliant album.
Many of us will know the words without thinking we know the words !

    Good watch

I remember it being released, it sounded rather strange at the time.

Because of my age I only listened to the album many years after it was released. I've always thought of it as being unique rather than strange. For me, the Magical Mystery Tour EP is odder. Blue Jay Way is full-on psychedelia. I Am The Walrus also out-weirds anything on Sergeant Pepper.

The thing that surprised me the most was the technology available in ‘67 in order to produce the “ out- weirdness” etc

Agreed. Even if prog-rock isn't your thing, some of the effects that were achieved with largely analogue technology were incredible. I know they were slightly later but Queen 2 and 2112 by Rush are also incredible aural experiences.

In the sixties, perhaps the 2 Floyd albums were the only commercial albums to be close to Peppers ?
Were Hawkwind a bit later ?

I think Hawkwind were early 70's.

I remember the first time I heard Piper At The Gates Of Dawn when my only experience of Floyd was The Wall. I was more than a little shocked, until I read about the life and eccentricities of Syd Barrett. Then it all made a lot more sense!

Saucer full of secrets wasn't bad. Hated it when I first heard it but then it grew on me.

I also found it very odd when I first heard it!
