....To state that you’ve given up on the lads. It’s very tough at the moment and as more games pass it looks less likely that we will gain enough points this season. However, it’s by no means all over and the team need as much support as possible. I don’t decry folk for not going to any match as that is their choice but to come on here and crow about it is a bit much. A sold out away end yesterday showed the team that they have some support at least.

It's over unless the owners admit they have ****** up badly but as they won't even acknowledge their mistakes and are in hiding then I have no faith in them to do so.

I’m not sure you’ve paid any attention if that’s what you’ve taken away from it. I’ve seen absolutely no unwarranted criticism of the players. The anger and apathy is towards the board. Not to say the players are totally immune to all criticism (McGeehan’s incessant misses for instance) but the overarching queries are squarely with an ownership that simply don’t care if we’re relegated because it falls in line with their projected ROI.

Nobody is crowing about our situation. There is a lot of anger / frustration / apathy from a lot of fans (including me) but I haven't seen or heard any crowing.

Think you’ve missed my point. We can all be critical of the owners for transfer policy and their treatment of Stendel. Doesn’t mean that we have to chuck our toys out. I think the team needs all the support it can get at the moment.

I’m not crowing about it. Just extremely annoyed that I’ve effectively been conned out of a lot of money (I buy several season tickets), and angry that the supporters of the club I’ve actively followed for 53 years are going to endure a humiliating season. It could and should have been different.

You think people coming on a Barnsley fc message board to discuss how they feel about the club is a bit much?

It's not one upmanship or better/worse fans competition.

People are expressing their emotions or would you rather folk were quiet and buried their head in the sand?

I don’t think anybody is enjoying just how **** we are, there’s certainly no crowing on my part but I think were genuinely a 20 point team at this level as it stands. Also, nobody, as far as I’ve seen, has blamed the players, the anger is directed at the board.

No I don’t. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just seemed to be a competition this morning for folk to say how much they enjoyed not even thinking about the match or remembering it was on. Maybe even a new found love of shopping.(tongue in cheek)

Again, I agree with you. Folk aren’t blaming the players but that’s not what I posted about.

Ok tad confused if that's not what you think as to why you said it. Maybe I've read it the wrong way.
From my point of view I can say the reason I would talk about my apathy is I find I sad I feel this way.

Ok. Semantics. I wasn’t trying to say folk were blaming the players just giving up on them by saying they aren’t going to go and support them.

    Sorry don't get this.?
The vast majority have backed the team on and off the pitch and ploughed into the owners and rightly so, because the way all this has been handled has gone way past the farcical stage.
You just don't treat your paying customers this way!
To say its a 'badge of honour' why? if we slip pathetically back down to the first without a whimper, would you be happy that you hadn't at least tried to make the point?

I can’t say I’m happy that I feel apathetic it’s been building I guess but still it’s a hollow feeling. It’s hard not to feel indifferent when we have become solely an investment vehicle with on field success being low on the list of priorities.

If we made even one decision that was purely a sporting one such as Hammill a few years ago this might trigger a positive reaction. As it stands if everything is about money it’s hard to care.

yesterday was my first away miss since Leeds the last time we were In the Championship I can’t say I miss a dire defeat against mediocre opposition. I half watched a stream while playing with the kids.

The badge of honour you mention relates to folks like me. I feel for these young lads but it is your opinion that I have 'given up on them'. If it is true, then it is a sad byproduct of me giving up on the owners / board. Apologies if that mekas me a poor fan

I was referring to posts saying how much they were enjoying doing other things or not even remembering there was a game on.
