Damn. Bitten by a dog with rabies gives you very little time to get successful treatment. Awful way to die.

Apparently she got a "very slight scratch" from the dog in February and didn't think any more of it.
    Very sad.

IIRC it can be both long or short period if time for symptoms to show but you really need treatment as soon as you are bitten, scratched etc.

I spent some time in South East Asia (and Morocco) and avoiding stray dogs was always top of my list!

From Wikipedia. I guess they're being, rightly, super precautionary.

This is horrendous. It’s hard to get your head around something so innocuous leading to your death.

I remember my parents always telling me not to stroke dogs or cats abroad as they might be stray & carry disease but I never imagined they could be carrying something that could kill you.

Must admit, I have never had a rabies vaccine. Got scratched by domestic dogs in France about 25 years ago, bit too late to get a jab now I reckon.
