Two Assists yesterday for Sam. Seen a few negative comments towards so I thought I'd highlight that. the second goal was lovely. Gets the ball in a little bit of pressure, goes past Fulhams number 14 I think was and plays a lovely ball to Winnall that finishes really well. Winnall got in a good position with a good body angel to time things well at his end. Just think we need to give him time. From what I see he's a 4231/433 player so it's going to take him time if we are going to differ from that with him. Think in the champ it would be a more defensive player along side him to get the best out of him.
Agree that the first assist too was good intercpets a ball looks up saw watkins making a run and puts him through. Our best midfielder yesterday mind you didn't take much.
Think he will work well with Hourihane, he'a certainly got more assists in him than Scowen has. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought he was the wrong player to play in a midfield 2 but he does have something to offer in a different kind of system as he has good vision and an eye for a pass. Looks like he needs to work on his conditioning either way though as he didn't seem to have the physical attributes to play effectively. Looks a bit like he's been to the Dale Jennings Fitness school at times. As with any other midfielder we have he has to complement Hourihane to get in the team regularly and I'm not sure he does. Hourihane would have to do all Morsy's running for him and this would deflect him from the offensive parts of his game where he excels he works better with a more mobile physical presence next to him like Brownhill.
For me we've ended up with three midfielder that all like it when the team have the ball. We need a smart footballer than can be good without it but it's something I felt since Brownhill went back to preston then onto Bristol. Gueye, Kante type. I will quote premier league stats because the are easy to find. The top 5 premier league tacklers this season are all midfielders. 8/10 are also midfielders. That's what we are missing. The ratio doesn't change much when you go into the top 15 players either. I'd also imagine a https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle?se=54 Can't find it this season but N'Golo Kanté made 156 intercpetions last season. Eden Hazard apparently called him a rat of a player. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...eam-mate-N-Golo-Kante-rat-high-work-rate.html
Yes he had a decent game He got MoM didn't he? Wouldn't argue with that, only Kent came close for me.
Re: Yes he had a decent game Opinions eh I thought Kent was one of the worst players on pitch. Morsey, winnall and watkins were only candidates for mom.
I'd agree completely that we didn't replace Brownhill when we needed to. I guess we signed Sessi in part to play that sort of role and couldn't legislate for his injury
sorry but he got injured on the way before the window ended. We built up a good rep with prem clubs last season and then didn't use it in the summer. Plenty of players would have loaned us a player. Arsenal have lots of players with them attributes for example
Re: Yes he had a decent game I'm in agreement with you, there's only really those three that did anything of positive note in my opinion.
Re: Yes he had a decent game I really don't know what ryan Kent brings to table it isn't goals, assists and he gives no help to the right back very poor man's Lloyd isgrove
I agree recruitment was a bit sluggish and man u probably see us as a safe option for developing their players though for every Fletcher you get a Rothwell
Re: Yes he had a decent game There's been some games this season where he has looked very quick and dangerous whilst scaring fullbacks but he isn't consistent enough just yet (probably come with age and games) With him and Adam on the other side we have zero cover at all, we basically had 2 in midfield yesterday
We shouldn't be relying on having to loan kids from the Premier League. Just look back through this forum at how unhappy fans are with that. They nearly always end Up going back, so you're just starting from scratch every 6 months. Prefer us to have all our own players personally.
I want us to have the best players possible. It was a joy to watch Fletcher last season. When I watch the premier league games it's always nice to see the likes of Holgate, Stones, Butland, Drinkwater, Jayrod. Rather watch a quality footballer for 10 games rather than a not so good footballer for 300. To watch the way someone like Butland went about things was great for me personally. In 10 years times there will be a lot of players I don't remember i'm sure. Those players even though some might not have played 30 games for Barnsley i'm sure I will remember.
Those players you won't remember will they include Ryan tunnicliffe, brek Shea, Dan Crowley, David fox, Joe dudgeon and calling connolly? All premiership loanees that have been absolutely *****
The bad often outweigh the good. In 20 years time I will remember Conor Hourihane and what he did for us in his 100+ games I will remember Winnall scoring 20 + league goals in a season will I remember anything about Butland not really. He cam he played well our results didn't get any better he ****** off. Conversely you tend to remember the awful loanees better than the good ones Shea and Rothwell and Crowley will leap to mind much quicker than Butland. Fletcher was unusual a fully committed loanee developing game by game and an absolute joy to watch.
