…going ahead this weekend. Makes the football authorities look even more ridiculous. If that’s even possible.

Rugby League/Union have far less/zero baggage re fan behaviour, bureaucratic corruption. Maybe they feel less of a need for virtue signalling.

Perhaps. But does this also mean rugby people are less patriotic/respectful than we are? Shambolic situation in my opinion.

No. Definitely not saying that. In my opinion pretty much everything should be carrying on as normal. Everyone should be allowed to respond to the death of the Queen in their own way, not have it imposed on them.

Really don’t get the blanket ban for football. Just been and bought a thick roll of black tape. Tomorrow rugby team I coach will be paying respect by wearing black armbands and doing a minute silence before their game. . Sunday a good majority of them will be doing another minute silence along with thousands of other fans watching the team they support

What will footy folk be doing? Most kids will be out playing or on Xbox trying to escape the endless tv shows and documentaries, cursing that their footy has been cancelled :D

I lived in Brunei in the late eighties when the Sultan's father died. All TV channels went to wailing and praying fulltime for weeks on end. All sport and social activity was banned for about six weeks. No more than six (I believe) people could be seen in public together (enforced by the Martial Law still in place from the dust-up with Indonesia in the sixties). I also had to wear a black arm band in public for about six weeks, enforced by ever increasing fines for each transgression by the Religious Police.

Postponing one football match seems quite tame to me. :)

That's not the point is it though? Virtually every other professional sport is carrying on. Are they less patriotic/respectful. Why football?
