    Anyone remember him?

Somewhat coincidentally, given our cup tie, last week his son gave me a BFC programme where Roy Lambert played for us against Crewe 29/1/66.

Roy Lambert was more of a Rotherham legend - he played in the 1961 League Cup two legged final when they lost to Villa.

He got injured playing for us after about 5 or so games and never played again.

Roy Lambert has dementia (probably from heading footballs) but is still with us.

He still has a fan or two who visit him and send him cards etc. So he must have been one hell of a player for Rotherham.

He's just a bit before my time, but from what i've read just today on this site, others may go back to his time with us.

I remember him. He was with us when we were at our lowest ebb and Johnny Steele was reduced to free transfers. Roy Lambert must have been right at the end of his career to have been released by the Millers. I can't remember seeing him playing as I was not a regular until the 1966/7 season.

So sad that he has dimentia, it is such a cruel disease. No cure and an inevitable, horrible conclusion. My thoughts go out to his family.
