On Quest just now, says they’ve done well this season and previous seasons considering the adversity they’ve faced. FFS, They’ve got off lightly to say the least with their utter contempt of FFP. Burton and Us play by the FFP rules and get relegated, yet it’s them that face adversity.
A good post mate. The team who face the adversity is the one who got relegated by clubs like Brum and Bolton who signed players to stay up that they now can't afford to pay. However, don't be expecting someone on the agent/manager merry go round like Rowett to tell it like it is. His living could depend on the next club to over extend themselves by paying him and crony mate/coaches/agents and favourite players **** loads of money they can't afford. If you're looking for a reasoned arguement or a way forward look elsewhere tarntyke
I know mate, It just grates a lot more when you’ve been on the receiving end of it, then you see this on TV. Wouldn’t expect the TV pundits to comment likewise, even if it did enter their thoughts.
Yeah they are all in it together to an extent. It needs to become socially unacceptable to extend yourself to the point that you can't pay wages. The players will ultimately be covered by the PFA and Admin would mean the football debts must always be covered so the players and managers arent gonna miss out. They need to start doing in order to reform the game
I know it will not happen but to give FFP teeth why not treat "unaffordable" players in the same way as ineligible players. Isn't it normal to deduct any points gained when using illegible player. I am sure there are many problems with this as non-compliance with FFP only comes to light when a clubs financial results come to light. However, a failure to pay players on time could be used as a FFP measure or a failure to pay other 3rd parties on time. However, if a player is signed in a transfer window for big money and subsequently that club is shown to have breached FFP; i.e. they "over reached" themselves financially to gain an advantage over other clubs then the number of points won when this player was involved are deducted at the earliest opportunity. Luton were awarded a huge points penalty a few years ago as were Bournemouth, but they were only small clubs at the time. Am I off the mark here?
In my opinion and as I believe to be the case, FFP was introduced/ designed to prevent clubs ‘over- reaching’ themselves financially, so as to protect the club and to prevent them gaining an unfair advantage. Well that worked didn’t it, not. So I think a club buying players they can’t afford should be treated as breaching FFP. Then of course there’s the issue of punishment, or lack of.
