Blurred the edges tonight. Alfie coped very well with the rough stuff and Robbo found time to play a bit of football. I still don't know which one I like best. And though they compliment each other perfectly, it's not quite as Macca & Evans as certainly I first thought... The perfect centre half is somewhere down the middle... Maybe we should extract some love juice from both of them and refine a blend, which will provide a few high quality centre backs in 20 years time. It would take sports science to a whole other level. We could even sign up some of those fit England lasses to do the baking...
Think they're both fantastic and good thing is I believe Roberts will stay with us for the rest of his career as his work often goes under the radar by none Barnsley fans. Also think Roberts is shoe in for Captain when/if Conor and Alfie leave
Mawson was quality yesterday. One of best games I've seen him play for us. That moment when he got turned on the half way line and it looked like he'd been beaten but then somehow pit on the burners, outstrengthed their guy and won a foul by getting his body in between was proper class. As were the ludicrous 40 yard balls he kept popping over to Kent on the right wing. I've never thought Mawson was quite as good as the hype and transfer rumours suggested, but yesterday really highlighted his potential to me. Got absolutely everything in his locker.
You say that about Roberts, but Birmingham made a bid for him after he'd played 4 league games last season. We'd only signed him the previous month. I reckon there could be lots of interest in both of them. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Roberts was immense last night. Against a very tough opponent in polter. They had a right ding dong all night and both would have known they were in a tough game when they get up this morning. Brilliant to watch
Re: Robbo & Alfie... I ****ing love Marc Roberts. Alfie's absolutely class too, and probably the better player. But Robbo is one of our own. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
