Sad news indeed. Nazareth rocked Barnsley Civic several times in my teenage years. Manny's power chords and bluesy slide playing were just as signature of the band as Dan McCafferty's raucous vocals. I still have their autographs acquired during my teenage years. God rest him.
RIP , Manny, saw Nazareth late 70s at Sheffield City Hall. We didn’t bother watching the support band a certain local band called Saxon
Not at the time, we simply stayed in a bar called the ‘Wopentek’ a popular rock bar at the time. Great times indeed.
Not Wizzard either. Perhaps Suzi was topping the bill herself. Have tried to find info on which acts appeared at the Civic circa 1972 but can’t find anything.
Couldn’t find anything there. However, I have found a site which states they appeared at the Civic once, on 8th April, 1973. I’m sure I saw them twice though!https://www.onamrecords.com/artists/nazareth/concerts?order=name&sort=asc
This has them as being there in 1992 and Suzie 1973 https://www.setlist.fm/venue/barnsley-civic-theatre-barnsley-england-5bd5fb30.html
It wouldn’t have been 1992. Looking at that list I do wonder how the hell I missed so many great acts/bands. I do definitely remember seeing the Kinks in 1994 though.
92 would have been their 2nd apperance, it's correct because I've also found an article about Seventh Son supporting them https://www.seventh-son.co.uk/mobile/history.html
