Incredibly dangerous riding a horse especially at the speed race horses are travelling. It’s a long way down to the ground. I rode for a few years in my late 30s and managed to survive without too many falls and luckily those were in an indoor riding school, so a soft landing. I was only ever really scared once and that was on a club hack in the Welsh Black Mountains. We’d been walking and trotting gently for an hour or so until we suddenly came across a flat open space and the leader decided it was time for a gallop. Exhilarating and terrifying at the same time!
I just looked at Christopher Reeve and it made my mind up. Not for me. In spite of growing up wanting to be the next Pat Eddery or Frankie Dettori.
I was passed by Pat Eddery once though I wasn't on a horse I was in my car on the M25 and he was in his sponsored open top sports car
Yes, from Superman to paralysis just like that. I love horses but they’re too temperamental in general
Laura's mother (Jackie) has a Cobb and it's too big for her. She's buggered up all her shoulder riding him. Not strong enough for him.
It was a riding school Cobb that bucked me off a couple of times. The second, or third, time it happened i remember saying (flat on my back at the time) “That’s it!! I’m not riding Samson again”. I swear he was looking down at me grinning his hairy head off.
Very dangerous. It reminds me of the advert Paddy Power made to tell people jockeys don't purposely choose to fall of a horse at 40 MPH.....
