Struber is bloody brilliant. I was gutted when Stendel went but looking back he would’ve took us down with those tactics and player choices. Struber has been a breath of fresh air and if he manages to keep us in this division then for me it’s an achievement on par with last years in my opinion. The guy deserves all the credit he’s getting so far, listening to the ponty sing his name yesterday must be brilliant for him too.
I liked Stendel but he seemed more ideologically committed to the gegenpress under nearly all circumstances, whereas Struber's approach is more subtle/flexible
100% agree. he has transformed the place. players who know what their job is. organised and playing with real purpose. l loved Daniel also but tactivally this guy is streets ahead.
Putting a 16 year old on the bench against QPR sent a real message to the senior pros that he was playing players who had heart to wear the shirt.
I’m a big fan of Bahre, I’ve made that clear on this board for a while now. However, I think dragging him for underperforming on two occasions was a huge statement of intent by struber. That is when I gained huge respect for this coach. It takes balls for a manager to do that so early in any game and shows me that he’s not ashamed to admit when his tactics aren’t working. Also like you say, sticking a 16 year old on the bench shows that if you’re willing to commit to his style of play you will get your chance. I trust him 100% with this squad and I do think we’ve got a good chance of staying up with him at the helm. Don’t like or trust Conway or the board still, but credit where credits due they’ve got this bang on.
I'd say it was his player selection that wasn't working, not his tactics. I also like Bahre but Struber was correct on both occasions.
