last season is still unreal in my head... a complete 'Fairy Tale' season for us. A cup final win a play-off win... and now a totally strong start. Also good signings it appears. Also how many times have we been on the verge of the deadline hoping for something to give us hope and then.... NOWT. But HEY this time we have moved fast and strong pre-season and now as the window is slowly closing it does look as if we are getting stuck in. We can be thankful for this situation because of the prudent way the club is now being run. The monies from Stones, Holgate and Mawson are paying dividends ... this is because we have the facilities for great coaching and development. Some say they would like investors/take overs to happen.... but all I would like to see is if we could take back the share that the Council have in BFC and go on from there.
Hang fire, a day of the window left open. How would a headline of...Reds accept bids for Hourihane and Roberts...go down tomorrow?
Hourihane I wouldn't be surprised, can't see anyone offering enough to tempt us to sell Roberts, I can't see premier league teams wanting him and nobody in the championship would bid enough I wouldn't think
I suppose in a way, when things aren't going well, we can look back on how we turned things around so quickly before. But it's exciting times, got an excellent young team, fantastic head coach, an owner who has thrown his heart and soul (and a few bob) into the club over the last couple of years, and cash in the bank.
didnt we own all the oakwell stadium grounds and businesses close to the ground 2002? i was too young to be interested in football back then to know for sure but it would be good to get that some time in the near future
I very much doubt we will sell Hourihane. Obviously nothing is concrete in football but the fact he is the captain and statistically the best player in the league so far it makes no sense to sell as for the first time in ages we don't need any money and to sell. Keep the lad, he's playing fantastically for his big move and will continue to do so until the end of the season because he's a proper professional. Just let his contract run down and let's have a proper crack at this league with young talented players willing to work their ******** off for each other.
Lets not forget Tommy Wright, a huge part of the turnaround and showed loyalty when the dwarf came for him.
