Either because that was in the preliminary round and we made the mistake in the competition proper, the rules have changed since then (maybe that was the first time and replaying a match isn't ideal), or the FA hate us.
Chesterfield situation was arguably the fault of the FA. They had registered the player 5 days before the game and assumed everything was ok but the FA had not replied to the registration for some reason.
Bradford were expelled and then reinstated in 2012, presumably because the hearing was held before the replay was played. Liverpool were given a £200,000 fine but allowed to remain in the League Cup. Southend were given a suspended 3 point deduction for a league game they actually won? Bury were deducted three points for playing Callum Styles when he wasn't registered and Rotherham were deducted 3 league points for fielding an ineligible player. Sunderland had a player play in five games, including an FA Cup victory, yet only received a fine. Both Roma and Real Madrid have been punished for fielding ineligible players. It seems this happens fairly frequently, however the punishment seems largely inconsistent. I'm especially baffled by the Liverpool decision.
League Cup is an EFL run competition, so doesn't fall under the same rules (similar response for league games).
I don't know why the club haven't attempted to argue for a replay, they must have blood like chip hole vinegar.

Because its barnsley. Nobody has seemed to be able to take this on board. We take the rap for anything that is going. It goes back years we should have gone into top flight after the war when they increased the membership. Them days 2 were promoted we finished 3rd so naturally when they decided to up the league when it was restarted we should have gone up for being tje next one in the last league but no Arsenal got the vote. This is just the same thing we have got chucked out so Horsham get in cos they were next team
Both Bradford and Sunderland impacted the FA Cup, and Roma and Real Madrid obviously aren't Football League clubs. I think there's a wider point that some of the biggest clubs in the world have fallen foul of eligibility rules, rather than self-loathing about being "tinpot" (stupid term), the club have done the right thing taking it on the chin.
It wouldn't have mattered if the players had taken the first match seriously. Any loss of revenue should be taken from their wages. Actions (or rather lack of) have consequences.
That's a bit of a stretch! They went about their job very professionally last week and rightfully earned their spot in the next round. Hardly their fault someone fcked up behind the scenes.
They did take it seriously but Horsham didn't come up to make up the numbers especially their goalkeeper. Why the players should pay is beyond me.
Me too. I do think the manager/ head coach should take some blame. Surely he sanctioned Marsh's loan?
