Remember the outrage when it was announced it wouldn't be completed until 2021? Well, here we are! Does anyone know whether it is progressing? Still more, will it be remotely near completion before fans return to Oakwell? I haven't been down that end of town, so I don't know how the pandemic has affected plans. Would be nice to think that the shiny new bridge would be ready when folk are able to return. Anyone?

Last time I was in town they hadn't even started it so I doubt it will be done in time for the next football season.

I thought this was a thread about the old Chelsea ground and/ or the Swedish and Danish co produced detective series. I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
If the Bridge is being fabricated off site, then it should be constructed and fixed in,in a weekend. They have just done something similar in Swansea, where they have been renovating their Market area.

This isn't the bridge but the design for the market stalls is shockingly bad. Cheap pop up gazebos basically

Also the plans were for the bridge to open out onto a public space, they've instead changed the planning permission last month to have it a taxi turning circle right in front of the entrance to the bridge.

For a long time, I never watched anything with subtitles. I just couldn't be bothered. I then tried watching foreign stuff which was dubbed, but the out-of-sync audio and lip movements drove me crazy.

Since I signed up to Netflix, Acorn TV and BritBox a few years back, I have watched a lot of European and Scandinavian shows and films. Crime dramas and Comedies are my favorites.

This is just my long winded way of saying "I agree about The Bridge,"

Work stopped for health and safety reasons, due to the same bloke turning up every morning and getting too close with his clipboard and bridge progress monitoring chart.

Yorkshire Water are diverting a sewer that currently sits where the bridge ‘lands’. This isn’t due to be finished until May. The last I heard was that work would start straight after that with a proposed finish date of December 2021.

Yes that's right, sewage works started in Sept to last 10 mths, they'll then start the bridge. Our new West stand will be up before then...

The bridge was always planned to land where it is in ‘interchange square’. However, the initial plans were to pedestrianise Kendray Street but still allow one way access for the vehicles servicing the Superbowl site and restaurants. Since then, the council purchased the former Woody’s fish and chip restaurant (using money they successfully bid for to improve Eldon Street) and decided a better option would be to demolish that building, provide a turning circle at the end of Midland Street, and send the vehicles back that way - keeping them well away from the new public square and outdoor seating areas for the restaurants. It also means the taxi rank can be kept closer to the interchange.

The Bridge was very good, and so was The Tunnel which was the UK-French version.

The dig work for the sewage works doesn't appear to have started yet (last time I was in town).

I also thought the chippy was meant to come down pretty quickly but it still stands.

I believe I read December this year for the bridge, but don't know if that was delayed or not. However, I just want to get back inside Oakwell, even with the long diversion in place (as Kendray St is shut).
