Interesting one this morning on talk sport. Mowbry has pretty much said Sunderlands 0-4 home defeat to Middlesbrough was down to the ref sending his player off for dissent and not taking account of the severity of the local derby....but at no time, even when the interviewer pointed out his player swore at the ref, did Mowbry criticise his players actions..The peice then went back to the studio and an ex pro (missed who) pretty much said the ref should have took account of it being a derby match and "let stuff go"..followed by the comment do we want Ref's to follow the rules like robot's..well my reply is yes, then WE might get a penalty for the same offence that our opposition got one for and see some opposition sent off like we get sent off..sadly this is why cheating in football called " Part of the game"..
Makes no difference if its a local Derby. Dissent is a yellow, we can't change the rules . What we can ask for is consistency. Follow the rule book ,can't complain.
All we can ask for is all teams/ players to be treated equally and with consistency, is it really that much to ask for? I’ve said it before and aI’ll continue to say if, whilst ever referees treat players and teams differently in the same game, or not even, then they are cheating. Anyone one can have a poor game Ref or player, we can except that if the ref’s not being a dick
Football refs could learn a thing or 2 watching the Rugby World Cup.Explain yours actions to the players and you'll cut dissent massively.
Agree, same b0ll0cks as when a player doesn't get carded, or a penalty not given 'because it's too early in the game'.
I hate that saying "the ref ruined the game sending that player off". So what if it was the right decision. That Man City player should have gone on Sunday.
