Fair play where it's due - thought he was really good today. All major decisions right, every card correct call handled it really well. Makes a nice change.

Have I read this right!!! I'm so surprised some on this forum haven't started another "ref's diabolical" thread!!

Agreed though, thought he had a decent game!

To be fair, last month we had a decent ref and a page got started complimenting the ref then too. Point is though, we shouldn't have to make a page congratulating the refereeing on not being crap! :D

Yes he got most decisions right and was consistent, you can’t ask for more than that. Just to put a bit of a dampener on it, it wasn’t a difficult game to ref,

Credit where its due, he got the big decisions right. Cambridge may feel they should have had a penalty when Williams bundled their striker over just before Isted made his big save, but otherwise, he let the game flow, and wasn't afraid to caution players.

One thing I noted is when he booked Digby for dissent, he pointed out (I think) that part of the reason for his booking, was that he got up in the refs face during the sending off incident earlier in the game. He showed good consistency.

Any ref whose record in charge of us is P6 W5 D1 L0 must be a good one! Surname Joyce and comes from the North-East - relative of Joe perhaps?!

Seriously, I thought he was pretty darned decent for a change. I always look for three things as a minimum which is consistency within the game, keeping control without fussiness and proximity to the action/fitness and he was definitely consistent with his decisions, controlled the game but wasn't fussy or over-officious and kept up with play well throughout. The only decision I think was arguably wrong was the Norwood booking.

I thought the ref did well today and after looking at the Watters challenge, yes it was a red card offence. Went in with the forearm. If it had been the other way, we would have insisted it was a red card. Granted the Cambridge players surrounded the referee(like they did at their ground with Liam K) but it was a poor challenge.

Thought he was a good ref in general . Got the Watters decision right but looked harsh with Norwood's.
