I can only see us getting a max of 9 points . Millwall , west brom and hudders will beat this terrible side of ours. Swansea were better than us at oakwell so cant see any points there. If we beat posh, blackpool and pne at home 9 points. So reading would need 5 more to stop up. Derby play swansea away fulham home next 2 so i would say they are in big big trouble after them 2.
As it stands, our only hope of winning a game is that our opponents waste the chances that they inevitably get in the last 30, or that we get two early goals. Had Wolfe taken one of those chances in the first half against Sheff Utd, we still wouldn't have won because of how bad we are after 60 minutes. For me, he has to try something different against Millwall. We know what our best available 11 is, but we've only won 1 out of our last 6 games, so starting with that 11 hasn't done us any good. I think he should look at starting someone like Iseka or even Hondermarck, and holding Morris or Quina back for the second half. Especially given Morris' inability to even walk at the end of games recently. Wouldn't be enough.
Let’s face it, there is only one realistic outcome and that is also a word that begins with the letter R. If we were to escape now it would make our results at Huddersfield and Brentford seem like strolls in the park
Reading would have to collapse this month to go down. With Joao, Swift and Drinkwater in the team they'll have enough to see us drop and not them.
I'd be surprised if the gap is any less than 8 by full time on Saturday. Can't see us getting anything at Millwall, and they have two very winnable home games, they might mess one up, but not both.
Tbh.. it would be just like us to go and win at Millwall.. one of our luckier grounds in the past.. Trouble is then.. all the false hope will come flooding back if that happens..
We'll have more chance of winning if Reading beat Stoke tomorrow to open up the gap. Sadly, this group of players, and the coach, cannot hack it when the pressure is on. Derby away and Reading at home have shown that.
Millwall have actually let 2 in for last 3 games after a long run of clean sheets or 1 goal ,so let’s hope the on the decline
The longer he has to coach the players between games, the worse they seem to play. That in itself shows the calibre of the coach.
I've a feeling that there's going to be a list of failures and what's ifs.. a mile long at the end of the season.. Because despite being so poor for the majority of the season, we still cuda stopped up.
The biggest one is the failure to bring any experience in, in midfield in January and relying on Wolfe and Gomes to dictate the play and manage games. In my opinion anyway.
Our chances of survival always relied on us winning the two 6-pointers vs Reading and Peterborough. Failing to close the 5 point gap on Reading when we had the chance feels terminal. Trying to sit back and defend a 1-0 lead for 85 minutes of that game feels criminal, from a tactical point of view, and gives me no faith that we can play with enough positive intent to achieve the mathematical miracle that's now required.
Sadly I have to agree. I know it's illogical to pin the failings of a whole season on a small number of games, but it feels like we've messed up every "6 pointer", every "must win game" and shot ourselves in the foot once too often. For me, Reading was our last chance saloon and we blew it. Mathematics might say different, but that's how I feel. I'd love to be proved wrong, obviously.
