I think I need to make these a thing, for the foreseeable future. Call it catharthis. Our entire strategy tonight appeared to be not conceding a goal; underpinned by a plan of zero-possession, zero attacking intent and zero effort out of possession. Three from 4 parts of that were executed to perfection. The only part of that plan that failed, was the not conceding bit. Collins: 1 - I can't give any more marks really, for a keeper who didn't make a save, in a game we lost 2-0 Brittain: 2 - downhill quicker than Franz Klammer. Impressive how many times he did a little flicky pull-back tonight, then immediately gave the ball away. Assuming he spends extra time practising it after training. Politely side-stepped away, to create space for their 2nd. Helik: 3 - Last season is long gone. Boris Johnson is showing more leadership right now. Eventually and inevitably broken down. Nowhere in sight for the 1st, then the 2nd followed with inevitable predictability as he showed as much effort as he did for Fulham's 1st on Saturday. I wonder how he's getting on in training up against Lewandowski? Moon: 2 - stood watching for both goals. His confidence must be shot. Whoever is telling him he's a ball-playing centre-half, is wrecking his career. Williams: 3 - would rather have Frank Williams. League 2 within 3 years. Simply not good enough at this level. Styles: 2 - within 12 months has gone from a £10m player to part of one of the weakest midfields I recall. Pretended to be a defender for their 1st. Benson: 1 - must have dodgy photos of Chien lee. what am I missing? Offers nothing on the ball or off it. I didn't imagine he could have possibly been worse than he was against Fulham. He managed to pull it off though. I can only try to imagine the existential crises that Hondermark and Gomes are facing right now. Palmer: 1 - completes the trio that is our woeful midfield. Zero composure on the ball, zero effort off it. May as well have not been there. Woodrow: 1 - I've done trying to find ways to defend him. Another dreadful performance. How he's getting 90 minutes week in week in out, is just beyond me. Frieser: 2 - gave him a bonus point for running more than Cauley Cole: 2 - see Frieser. Iseka: 2 - did nowt. Looking like another player with potential, that's going downhill fast Oulare: 1 - on the surface of things, a baffling signing. must have a good agent, and a CGI clips real Morris: 3 - we know there's a player in there, but way off, and when our midfield can't keep the ball for 5 seconds, he's gonna struggle. looks to be carrying extra timber Asbhagi: P1 L1, in a debut throughly awful to watch. Not passing any judgment, just sticking to the facts.
Disagree with your marks for the Callums, they had a hell of a lot of defending to do and first half did it well. They got my highest marks, along with Cole.
fair enough. I can't give marks for performances though, that are based on 20% possession and zero ability on the ball, then being absolute gash on either goals
Williams J did well tonight - if they'd all played as much up to their potential as him, then we'd have got something out of the game. Styles and Cole deserve to collect half their weekly wage. The rest should be paying us for having to watch.
Harsh on Collins, j Williams and Cole the rest are indefensible. Rather have George Benson in midfield than josh.
What needs to happen to our players Collins - nothing, he's been fine in general J Williams - played in the correct position would be a start. Helik - surrounding by other players who make him look ok again as he's being found out without others covering him Moon - loaned out to a lower league side for this season Brittain - decide on his position Styles - see Brittain Palmer - shoved into the reserves until he decides to try Benson - get a big ugly ******* alongside him or don't play him. Woodrow - dropped and given a strong talking to about his lack of effort Cole - given a run in the side and rewarded when he does well instead of constantly being hailed off when he's the better player Frieser - given a chance alongside players who try. Last night was doing his, Woodrow's and Palmer's job. No wonder he isn't effective.
