Where are our investments going, folks? I think it's a massively open race. I'm not sure Ace Impact should be as short as he is. I just wonder whether the French Derby win was all it seemed, and I don't think Continuous gave his running that day - he has improved with each race since. Hukum has to be feared. My bets are on Continuous (bidding to become the first horse to win the St Leger and the Arc in the same year) and Bay Bridge, who would relish soft going. A win for Frankie in his last Arc would obviously be yet another fairytale in a magical career. My other bet is a double on Highfield Princess (4.25) and Kinross (5.00), which pays just over 7/1. Highfield Princess's best form is ahead of these rivals, and she had excuses when beaten in Ireland by three of them last time. Everything is in place for Kinross in the Prix de la Foret, and whatever his fate in the Arc, Frankie should bow out of Longchamp with a winner here.
I agree with you about Ace Impact. I think given its price it just looks too dodgy over this trip. Obviously it could win but there are better alternatives elsewhere which have better value. I originally had Hukum down as the most likely winner but have changed my mind now (fatal error?) and think that Westover is the more likely. If Westover gets out of the traps ok from what looks like a decent draw then I think he may have to use less petrol than Hukum will have to from the wide draw. The race will be 'busier' than the Ascot race and Westover only has to find a short head. There was also just enough juice in the price to do a manipulated each way bet to 4 places on Betfair last night so that's what I've done. In the first race I like the look of Hannon/Leveys horse Rosallion. The ground is drying and the soft ground defeat at Donny where the horse got clonked on the nose by another riders whip I think can be overlooked. I've had a 20/80 on that one as well. Not checked the races after the Arc but will do later now you've mentioned a couple. Good luck to one and all.
EW punt on the Frankie/ Gosden combination is my bet. A couple of 5 year olds have won recently so I reckon that’s the best value option.
