sorry if it's allready been posted https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52378491 the plane carried half the consignment, so why did they not send two planes I have to wonder.
Been on the 6 o'clock News that we were invited to join an arrangement to supply bulk quantities of PPE under a European Union purchasing initiative. The reporter says we have rejected the offer and that we are now struggling to source sufficient independent supplies for our NHS front line.
Just been on the 10 o'clock news that we haven't received the full consignment of PPE from Turkey yet and despite the chronic shortages on our own front line, we are apparently shipping considerable amounts of protective kit to Germany, Italy and Spain. If that is true, it is an absolute national disgrace. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...ns-pieces-ppe-shipped-britain-europe-despite/
We see the military planes come into Brize Norton from down here. You can't miss them, as there are not many planes these days and the military ones are Hercules types with maybe four turbo-prop engines. One or two over the past two/three days, followed about three/four hours later by the sound of helicopters heading all routes out. I guess they will be landing on hospital helipads to deliver consignments. No planes today, though, yet.
The military are still flying to transfer people in and out of operational theatre's too. Life goes on as normal for many thousands whilst all this is going on
Turns out all the gowns are sub standard and have to be sent back. Also, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...s-flown-from-turkey-for-nhs-fail-uk-standards
Sums up the standard of our government’s handling of this crisis. An utter shambles and getting worse by the day.
Exactly, that’s all you get off supporters of dear old Boris. Tories’ scandalous underfunding of the nhs has got us where we are today, sadly.
Presumably they were subject to testing/British safety standards before being shipped several thousand miles to workers who desperately need them? Oh, they weren't? Never mind. I'll be clapping extra hard for brave Boris tonight regardless.
What should have happened is, as the standard of our politicians fell, safely standards should have have fallen proportionally. Ergo, by the time we reached this shower, any old bag of s***e PPE would have passed safety tests.
But the Govt did not do the ordering they just forwarded the money. The management of the NHS did all the ordering , so they should shoulder the blame for me.
Spot on. The NHS is funded by government whether that be red, blue, green or brown. The problem lies with the administrators at the NHS. The people that get £50 million and spend it on new computers and a face lift for a waiting area. The money wasted is almost as bad as any lack of funding. It isn't spent in clinical areas. That isn't ANY governments fault.
If you had insufficient stocks for a major crisis then reacted too slow all thats left on the shelf is ***** basically. I didn`t break mi neck to get loo rolls and when I got there and needed them there was only those severely marked up ones left or poor quality ones.
long before the Covid 19 came along my wife and I would take full advantage of special offers in the supermarkets, for example Tesco had 24 loo rolls for £7 last year and plenty of them too. so we bought a cple and put one aside for a rainy day as it were. Other offers we would but . Also we have two freezers in the garage which we kept fully stocked, at any one time we had enough for about 6 to 8 weeks. We live quite rural so it just seemed sense to us in case severe weather kept us in . It was not panic buying by any means, just planning ahead in case of any problems in the future.
