Alongside the prem, being debated at the moment. I hope not, I love winter football. No b teams or Scottish teams coming tho: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...gue-b-teams-in-plans-for-new-league-structure
Hate the idea of a winter break. Games on boxing day and new years day are part of British tradition. Also don't buy that it impacts on the national team, seeing as the majority of the French national team happened to play in England and it didn't seem to effect them last tournament. Bl**dy stupid idea. So we have our winter break and the weather is lovely and mild, the break ends and we get 2 foot of snow for a fortnight. With our climate it makes no sense because nobody knows when the bad weather will come. Stupid - are these people insane?
Re: Bl**dy stupid idea. We have a break in September,, then another in October and yet another in November. We have yet another break in February and one in March. They are International breaks, and means championship team already have 5 free weekends. Just what we need an even more fragmented league. No thanks
So the idea is to reduce the number of teams and therefore matches so we can have a winter break Why do we want leagues with fewer teams in - maybe for the prem where they expect long cup runs and European football I can see it ( but still not keen) but why do we need it for the Championship. Glad the bottom two leages already rejected it but I want to be able to watch us playing all through the winter - I dont see who benefits from this break If the sole purpose is to improve the England football team - I dont think it will make a difference, but even if it did so what the vast majority of genuine football fans - the ones that turn up for games and watch a club dont care too much about the national team - Yes we want them to win but not with anything like the passion of our club sides
The quickest way to improve the england team is to stop buying every half decent young player from the continent who arent already owned by chelsea or citeh and play english kids instead. Its not rocket science when only around a third of premiershit players qualify for the uk national team.
