Whilst Derby and Bolton both win, both the teams directly below us have lost. Got to cling to summert
I thought we created quite a lot today. Not sure how many shots we had in the game but feel like it was a lot, just not a lot on target.
There are positives. Massively frustrating for several very obvious reasons, but taking the emotion out of it, I actually thought we played very well for large parts of the game. The things we talked about after Bolton & Derby - the press, the intensity, the graft. winning first and second balls, were all there today for me. I'm not trying to gloss over owt. First to admit that yet again, we've been undone because our quality in key moments is just not good enough, and we can't put the ball in the net. And if that doesn't get sorted, no amount of graft will correct it. But there are positives after today, for me.
According to BBC, 22 shots, but a pathetic 2 on target. We also had 11 corners to 0. According to BetVictor, we had 25 "dangerous attacks" just in the first half. These stats provide no encouragement to me. Zero goals for the 3rd successive game. That's the key stat.
Does give me encouragement, even if slightly. Its always better to be creating chances and not scoring than not creating chances and not scoring. Dike looked off pace in his first cameo, hopefully it'll be similar for Watters here
Yes 2 on target from 23 attempts, but 7 were blocked against Charlton 0 blocked. Also 12 corners for Reds against none for Charlton. The 2 shots that hit the woodwork don't count as on target. It's obvious where the problem lies
yes. benson and Cadden in the 1st half. benson's would have been a worldy if it had gone in. wasn't a 'miss' really. was an outstanding effort. very unlucky. Cadden's was poor though, for me. should have broke the net.
"Just" need to be sharper suggests it's not too difficult to remedy the deficiencies. The fact that we have these deficiencies on a regular basis is surely the key point.
Not nice losing again but!......I still would have taken 6th in league at this stage of season.....was always going to be a bonus if we where in contention after all doom and gloom at start of season.....for me it was about getting to this transfer window with a bit of a chance of challenging for playoffs.....we’ve done that bit so now let’s make a positive signing or 2 and the real season starts now in my book.......COYR!
