I've just been doing a comparison between this season and our last two play off seasons.

Ritchie season 72 points from 46 won 18
    Johnson/Hecky 74 from 46 won 20

    Stendel 70 from 35 won 20 - 11 games still to play!

    Cracking effort so far.

It is a cracking effort but I think this season is gonna be one of those where we need to keep winning to the end imo.
Bit like the great escape season in reverse really where Peterborough kept matchin us right to the end an went down with points that would normally have kept them up easily .
Top three gonna go right to the wire with an unbelievable points tally .

Agreed. Down side is the 3rd place V 6th in the playoffs, where the team that didn't quite make automatic gets beat by a team 20 points behind them

Isn’t that what we did to Walsall couple of years ago?
Teams going into playoffs with momentum usually win it imo

Yeah. Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.

We drew our way into the playoffs in 2006 though. No real momentum, lost first leg v Huddersfield and playoff final was a nail biter.

Let's hope were not involved in the playoffs this season. Not sure my ticker could stand it.

The only thing I would say is that there's no team heading for the play offs at the moment with any great momentum. Certainly no more than we currently have ourselves.

Really? There's 3 teams at the top on long unbeaten runs, so one of them will be in the playoffs. So that's one team with great momentum will be in the playoffs

Lol, I was thinking of clubs sneaking in with a late run like we did but you have a very fair point.

Must have edited his post then, cos he didn't actually say that lol. He just said teams heading into the playoffs. The 3 teams at the top deserve to go up, imho, but as you quite rightly say, gonna be a sickener for the team that finishes 3rd ...

It's gonna be a sickener for whoever finishes 3rd.
Imagine getting 90 points and not getting automatic promotion.
    I think it's a reality this season!

Our highest points total with three points for a win was 82 in 1999/2000 when just missing out in the playoffs under Basset.

If you go back in history and adjust the two point wins to three our highest ever was 1938/9 when we would have, under the present points system, 97 points from 42 games.

Nine more wins from the last eleven games and we equal our record points over a season. Not doing bad young Daniel, last one we had did ok too (first time round).

Me too. It would be quite a record breaker. Even more so than going down on 55 points, which was also extraordinary.

I suspect that it's going to be very tight with us, Sunderland and Luton continuing to pick up points regularly. I agree that one team is going to be very disappointed finishing on 88+ points and ending up in the play offs. I just hope it isn't us.
