According to the Yorkshire Post the lad who attacked him got ten years at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday. Nice to see the system working, for once. May not make up for what happened to Pete but at least some measure of justice has been served.

Are we supposed to know who he is?

Yeah, excuse my ignorance, but I'm not sure who he is. Glad some kind of justice has been served though, regardless.

It's the milkman who was violently assaulted and more at knife point. Cracking sentence from the judge, we need these kinds of sentences to be the standard.

Well known chap locally. His round covered a fair bit of Barnsley. But he also did discos and used to do the Monday night quiz at the Treddlehoyle. A thoroughly pleasant chap.

We used to go to the Tred just for the quiz, his banter and humour second to none.
I was shocked when I read the post on here that he had been attacked.
I wish him well and wished I could tell him also.
I was also surprised at the verdict ,isn't it not time that these sort of sentences should be given out.

I would imagine there'd have been sone previous offences given the length of the sentence.

I’m glad the sentence is reflecting the seriousness of the crime but the cynic in me thinks other wheels in the justice system will start turning towards the culprits .
I’m not confident they will serve anywhere near that term away from the judges reach .
Automatic slashing of sentences imo need reforming .
As soon as the judge hands out the sentence the lawyers are recalculating the actual time they will serve to their clients .
This shouldn’t be , time should only be recalculated when criteria met eg good behaviour and the minimum should reflect the seriousness of the crime not lawyers deals .
I’m not advocating hard labour or throw away the key etc but time cut from sentences need to be hard earned and minimum time served must be adhered to .
