Yeah you have to be realistic. I like the plan but flogging half your team every 2 years and replacing it with possibles is not a recipe for success.
The amount of smug posts as people were upset at players leaving was shocking. Largely the same that appear to have zero concerns still, mind. Not sure how many losses before you’re allowed to be critical.
The way people slagged off Moore and Lindsay when they left making out they were absolute ***** was embarrassing. I’m sure half these new lads will come good in League One next year though
We can be critical at any time. Doesn't matter if they're top of league or bottom. I do think though that a balanced view of the team is still a few games away. A lot of people already seem to be in panic mood. My opinion of course
We don't flog half our team every 2 years. We seem to have to build an entire new team every season. And that is the main problem. And has been for years now. Too many ins and outs. It needs reigning in instead of this constant high turnover.
Don't know about **** wages but if they are.. couple that with a lack of ambition to advance league wise isn't a recipe for success from a fans point of view nor is it healthy for the club in general... On the other hand dividends wages percentage of sales excellent for those holding the purse strings... Its becoming clear by the minute in my opinion... These owners only interested in lining their own pockets...
Theres everything you can do. You could start by flat out refusing, or at very least command a fee that represents good business for the club. We sold pinnock for pennies whilst pompey sell a player who's the same age for 6 million more. Then the owners could do with sticking to their promise to reinvest the money made into the first team. If we make 4 million on a striker, fine. Reinvest 2.5 million on a replacement who's worthy. Not 300k on a striker from a league who noones ever heard of. For me, when we were bidding for Kone and the Croatian it was all smoke and mirrors stuff. Let's make it look like were really going for it, then claim a deal couldn't be reached and then sign our REAL target.... a kid from the Uzbekistan 3rd division who's scored 2 and 79. But hey, hes only 19.
Realistically though a lot of teams supposedly have ambition. Most of these wont achieve anything why would players come here? We re obviously not going to offer them silly money, we re not a trendy club and we haven't got a history of being in the top flight. What we do well is giving the young uns a chance. If you listened to Shipperleys podcast for eg it wasnt that he didnt like playing for us it was that his missus wouldnt move up here. Location is a big factor.
I agree that if players want to leave, they should be allowed to. BUT, I’m pretty sure they don’t want to leave because their parking spot is in the wrong place or water bottles are the wrong shape,,, you’ve just GOT to pay the going rate for the job. That’s it.
Agree completely. Could have gone for someone like Lawrence Shankland who's already scored 9 in 7 for his new club. We could have tried for Tyler Walker who's jumped a league from last season and is carrying on scoring. At least they are British lads who know British football and we don't have to have patience with them to learn a new language, learn a new style of football, settle in a new country etc.
