good see from time to time there are things that unify us all, e.g. the universally accepted truth that Paul Dacre is a grade a c.nut

Pretty much yes on the whole they are. there will be a few good people in politics for the right reasons of course, but not too many. Agreed though, not sure why anyone would want this guy in charge of anything. He's down in the Alastair Campbell level of pondlife.

The significant difference is the way this mob are breaking the things that can challenge those in power. If you go back to the Blair Years, there was a concerted effort to maintain political balance to public bodies where government appoint the heads of.

Its pretty much unheard of now, and as with the Dacre instance, the government are lobbying and fighting hard to get sycophants in post.

Yes, and in all parts of commerce and industry you'll find cronyism and nepotism, and thats long been in politics. But we're in uncharted territory.

Spin has been replaced with bare faced lies. Cronyism with fraud.

It really is like nothing else I've seen in my lifetime.

    This^
I’ll go as far as to say; anyone who thinks this lot are just ‘more of the same’ is actively responsible for how bad it is and how much worse it will get.

Its a victory for the corrupt when the public accept corruption as ‘normal’. When ministers break the ministerial code without sanction, there are no longer any rules left worth being concerned with.

Direct and sometimes explicit threats to BBC, Channel 4, Ofcom, the "leftie" judiciary and the Police. Gerrymandering to rig future elections. Bills to curb protest, even as an individual. The bizarre change that recognised some completely irrelevant companies as lobbyists that suddenly had purdah enforced upon them to gag their findings pre a GE.

And thats before we get into the cronyism and the tawdry grubby dealing of covid contracts as people died in their thousands. And before we get into trying to gag the russia report by insisting on their earmarked chair (only to be outwitted), and the push for Dido Harding to head the NHS... wife of John Penrose, tory MP.... and so on and so on.

"Daily Mail Editor" he sounds like a perfectly reasonable sort to head up a public watchdog organisation then.....
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.

    First question.

    Are you Paul Dacre?

If the answer is yes then the interview ends.

I’ve posted it before but I’ll post it again for anyone who thinks ‘they’re all the same’ or are still laughing along with Boris and his funny hair….

“As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air – however slight – lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness.”
