Watched Luton beat Reading tonight. Reading were absolutely awful, easily the worst team I have seen. Utterly terrible, we hardly needed to get out of first gear. The ground was three quarters empty and the fans who were their just on their backs. As one of their fans wrote 5 defeats and 2 draws in 7 Out the cup to a tier 6 side 3 points from the last 7 games at home Dwindling attendances Fallen out with the club captain No new contract extensions A 7-0 home defeat Constant injury crisis
So if Reading are that bad, we might just finish second bottom. Not much to cheer there. (but thanks for trying)
Until we are mathematically down there is always hope. But Reading's downfall is no consolation to our own disastrous campaign. Appreciate the sentiment though. And well done to Luton, your boys doing well.
Only consolation in that at least they are reachable with a half decent run. Yeah, we have a strong squad, no outstanding players other than Naismith (superb) and Adebayo (quickly improving and looking very good) but we play as a team, great spirit and work very hard. Should finish top ten, probably 7th to 10th
Three essential ingredients to a successful team, and none of them to do with money, interestingly. Good luck for the rest of the season
Well we don't have any money so have to focus on the other qualities. All our team tonight were free transfers tonight apart from Adebayo and he was only around £200,000. The highest weekly wage in that team is about £6,000 a week. Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea but playing at Reading is apparently on a £120,000 a week contract. He was useless
It's commendable. We don't have any money either, and play teams who have invested considerably more. I was just making a point that the three things you point out are highly commendable, are something money can't buy and, sadly, something our team are lacking this season. Some fans have understandably used the analogy 'hearts the size of a pea' to reflect our current contingent of players. Which is a shame because some of those players were here last year and they were intensely fearless.
