Don't get me wrong he's some player and has the potential, in my opinion to be a top Premier League player but he's earned himself a good move and Forest a lot of money. Surprised he didn't go to the Prem. The way he's built and the way he plays is very reminiscent of Cristiano Ronaldo, he's a very powerful runner with good feet and has scored 4 goals already this season. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-leipzig-sign-nottingham-forests-oliver-burke
Be another Tony Watt, go abroad not make it then come back to the Champ in 3/4 years why some players don't stay and establish themselves at a high level like the Championship is beyond me
RB Leipzig the German version of MK Dons. Ok not that bad, but still a bankrolled franchise who changed their name.
He has a lot more about him than Watt mate. Obviously no-one knows what will happen but barring some bad injuries I can see him playing at a very high level in the next few years. 13m as well and he hasn't played that many games.
Still a season or two with Forest get some internationals under his belt for Scotland and he'd be in good shape for a good Prem side to come in. As we all know a high percentage of British players do very poorly abroad
Yeah I agree, I always think you have to establish yourself in the league you start in and then make a sensible move. We neve rknow it may be a masterstroke from him and he may go strength to strength and in 2-3 years he could be playing for Dortmund or someone similar but just reading that interview it sounds like Forest need money and agreed the deal before asking him, in fact that's exactly what it says.
As we all know a high percentage of British players do very poorly abroad[/QUOTE] Bank balances and agent fees don't though so sadly players move abroad before they are ready or know what they are getting into....
If they need the money then thats probably motivated it, couple of years ago remember the Fawaz family say they wanted Forest in the Prem thats disappeared just like the Venkys
Exactly, a lot of false promises. One of the reasons why we are lucky to have Patrick. I know we can't compete with the really wealthy but at least we won't ever end up nearly going out of business.
Ditto, I wish we had a Barnsley owner, a barnsley manager and 11 Barnsley area players, I`d follow em all over.
He's sold his soul going to Leipzig. Hopefully they will go straight back down and end up completely forgotten about.
Maybe that's one of the problems with British national teams, not enough squad members experience playing abroad with different playing styles and playing cultures. I don't think it's a bad thing at all. There are very few British players who play abroad and fewer who do so successfully (as you point out}. I think there are a number of reasons for that, the main being that for the most part you can earn much more playing for a mid ranking PL team than you can playing for all but the top handful of teams on the continent. We don't have many British players good enough to play for Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Juventus. Better to get £30k per week at Southampton, than £10k per week at Valencia, Udinese or Hertha Berlin.
