I was hoping the article was going to mention CCTV footage tracking down the culprits to pay the fine, so the club didn't suffer because of the actions of so called fans.

Ridiculous, any other club been fined?? Cos it definitely happens up & down the country at most other football clubs.

The usual pithy announcement. How about dropping the “may be this” and “could be that” lines and substituting “we have clear CCTV pictures of the culprits and these are being contacted immediately and their season tickets are cancelled/they are being blacklisted to prevent future ticket sales”.

It’s no good just paying lip service to an ongoing problem.

We seem to be in hot water a lot this last 15 years or so. You never heard of Barnsley being in trouble when I was growing up. It's embarrassing.

I wonder how real the threat of matches behind closed doors is. Have the club been told that if it happens again this will be enforced or are they just trying to emphasise how important this issue is.
Id be pretty miffed if we have our ground closed because of the actions of at most a couple of hundred morons- especially as its never happened to anyone else and we are by no means unique in having this sort of problem.
I guess we are a nice small club ideal for making an example of (Like Luton Bury Rotherham etc) you wouldn't pick on a bigger club for that sort of gesture

It's just another way to extort money from clubs

How can the club stop these morons though? That's the frustrating thing. They can eject them when it happens and be more vigilant during the event and after it but they can't prevent it. Once it's come out of someone's mouth it's out there and hey presto another fine. It's a vicious circle.

Homophobic abuse can be indecent chanting and is an offence, i'm with the others on here that suggest we as a club fine the individuals if and when possible.

The club have had to put an action plan in place to try to prevent any future instances, including publishing this statement. While the club can't stop idiots chanting stupid things, they can make stadium announcements after the fact and review stewarding practices. It's not good enough to say "we weren't made aware until after the game".

Asked the question - how would you feel if it was your daughter on FB page?

    Usuall snowflake comment
My daughter is only 8 - I may join in with chant if she was older ( think he thought this was funny?

Despair I really do - had two of my daughter's friends drugged this year and end up in hospital after a night out - no it isn't the same but shows how some people feel about women.

Unfortunately this IS rife, a quick search on Youtube shows many examples, such as in this link. Even Barnsley are on this one but only with the plant pot song. However there is very clearly foul mouthed, sexist abuse from the "fans" which appeared to be ignored by every steward. Why this cannot be banned from that platform and the uploader traced, whoever he supports contacted, and given a stadium ban is beyond me.

Please be aware this clip contains bad language, and sexist abuse, viewer discretion is advised

This is what I was going to say. I commented on the last thread I didn't know what it referred to - it became quite clear throughout the thread.

This 100%, shrugging your shoulders and saying “what can we do?” Isn’t good enough - you’re paying stewards to do what? Stand around like a spare w@nk in a high vis jacket?

They haven't got clear CCTV though because the club couldn't be arsed to train CCTV on the area (probably because the club claims they were totally unaware of any chanting when it happened and not one person in authority at the club heard it.

Lets be clear here the club hasn't got a fine because of the chanting, it's got one because of its complete failure to follow the action plan imposed on it after the last incident two years ago, complete failure to implement basic anti-discrimination signage as per the rule and because of its complete failure to provide any kind of defence (again) regarding the charge. These are the reasons that the club were fined as laid out in quite a damning report.

Sure a minority of fans acted disgracefully but that wasn't the reason for the eventual fine. The reasons for that are solely the fault of the club.

Also where are the many articles condemning the behaviour of our players? We've had several fines now for them acting like hooligans but i've seen no notices from the club threatening them

15 yrs. Try 15 months. 5th fine if I remember right. 4 of em players being nobs.
Re this one, was it the "get yer tits out for the lads" to the lady physio. ? If so I'm not condoning it. But I would imagine we wouldn't be the only club in deep water with that one.

Yes it was that chant and we aren't in bother necessarily for the chant itself but for the club failing to do what it was ordered to following the McLean incident.
