    EFL CONFIRMS 20/21 SEASON DATES

    The 20/21 fixture schedule will also be released on Friday 21 August at 9am

    The 20/21 season dates across the Sky Bet EFL, Carabao Cup and the EFL Trophy have been confirmed, with the Carabao Cup officially kicking off the EFL season with an action-packed month of cup football to follow throughout September.

    Some encouraging changes to the old League Cup but still not radical enough. I would have the final on New Year’s Day, all done before the third round of the FA Cup. Premier League teams should be required to name a squad of 22 for this competition at the outset. This would avoid the practice of playing weakened teams in the early rounds and bringing in the big name players for the later rounds. It would be much more exciting if teams like Liverpool were playing a combination of experienced players, fringe players and kids. It would make the tournament more open.

    It would make the tournament more open and achieve its original purpose if the Greed League kept its nose out altogether. Their presence is nothing but a thinly-disguised wedge designed to drive their B-teams into the EFL.

    Don't get the league cup rush job. The same month the season starts you could be in the quarter finals but waiting until Christmas time for your next match.

    Probably because teams in Europe will have a later start to the season, so using the dates those clubs aren't available to get early rounds that they don't play in out of the way.
