Inspired by the oddballs on here who are tonight claiming Mowatt and Oduor aren't very good. Tuffers insisted that Redfearn was over-rated and was pleased when we sold him. Hemmsy and Tyrone didn't rate Bobby Hassell Donny Tyke (?) spent three years insisting that Hourihane was "limited", despite mounting evidence to the contrary. Any others I've missed? Not on here, but I used to sit behind a bloke who hated everything Scott Jones did, but thought Chris Morgan could do no wrong. This earned him the simultaneous nicknames "Chuffin' Hell Jones" and "Chris Morgan's Dad".
Bruce Dyer was fast, skillful and a pretty decent finisher. Yet he also had huge deficiencies in some very basic areas of how to play football. Like staying onside, controlling a moving ball etc. He spent most of his career looking like a talented but very raw kid, which is probably no coincidence considering his highest transfer fee was when he was 17. Overall I think he was pretty good, but the disappointing thing is how much further his career would have gone if he hadn't finished developing so early. But if he'd fulfilled his potential, he wouldn't have been playing for Barnsley in the prime of his career.
If youre judging him as a footballer I'd say your judgment is sound. If youre judging him as a pervy git...
We've had some proper ***** over the years, but off the top of my head: Paul Gibbs Mike Flynn Kevin Gallen Lee Crooks Kevin Donovan Gary Jones (though though he was ok at first) Tony Bullock David Tuttle Keith Brown Richard Naylor Deon Burton
There's a few that think every player on the team is crap and not good enough for the fourth division every single time we lose.
Eaden - right wing back who could also operate on the right side of midfield. Never at centre half though. Bobby - right sided defender, who could play right back, among other positions, including centre half. Don't ever recall seeing him on the right wing (please correct me if I'm wrong) . Hence why I genuinely don't think they're particularly comparable players, despite both being right footed defenders.
There were plenty on here who were claiming that because we got relegated 2 seasons ago that none of that side were therefore good enough to challenge for promotion the next season. Good job Klopp didn’t follow that logic seen as he picked up Robertson from relegated Hull, Wijnaldijum from relegated Newcastle & Shaqiri from relegated Stoke
Seems like a fair list..... Suppose you could add many players to that. On a sidenote i never knew lee crooks joined the RAF after his football days, must not have made much money from football.
