As you know a group of us are walking to Huddersfield on Saturday to raise money for Disability Sport Yorkshire. There are further details of the walk and information about Disability Sport Yorkshire here http://disabilitysportyorkshire.org/barnsley-fans-charity-walk-d-s-y/. You can donate if you wish here https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fu...ionForCharityDisplay.action?charityId=1011480.

On Saturday, we will be logging our progress using GPS via my walking website www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk, so you can see where we are. This is how to do it: -

    1) Go to the Mapping page on my website http://www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk/track.php and go to Configure Map Display on the right. This should look like this Tracking Screen Shot.jpg

    2) Under "Add a predefined route to the map", select "Oakwell to Huddersfield" in the drop down list.

    3) Under "Track a friend's progress", select "Stahlrost: Oakwell to Huddersfield 20-08-2016.

    4) Under "Enter your friend's password if required" enter my password, which for this walk is "bbs", all lower case.

    5) Click "Display Map". You should see a map with the planned route in brown, and our current progress so far in blue. The red circle is our current location. You may or may not see any markers at various points on the route - if you do you can click on them for further information.

    6) Errrrrr......that's it. If anyone has any feedback on this, including any problems using my website, please use the feedback form here http://www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk/contact.php

    Notes: -

The screen does not refresh on its own, so you will have to repeat the above procedure to update your map with our current position. You can click your browser refresh button to do this, but you may get a submit warning. If so, just ignore it. If I survive the walk, I'll fix this next week.

You can use this feature for your own walks if you want, but let me finish it first as it's a bit flaky at the moment.

If I keel over on the walk, I'll try to get someone else to take over. However, if you see the route suddenly doubling back rapidly, it's probably me in an ambulance.

    Has Ben Mansford been invited?

Sorry, I saw you mentioned 'ambulance' and it reminded me to ask.

I think Linton Brown is joining us, but not 100% sure. Obviously if he keels over I'll give up my comfortable bed in the ambulance.

I will be pissed after the walk, but since we're setting off at 5:30 it will be a long time before we find an open pub.

Update - Route Map for your Mobile

For all walkers heading for Huddersfield tomorrow, a route map is available for your mobile, so you can still check the map en-route even if there's no internet connection. I'll bring some printed maps with me, but I stopped using paper years ago!

To download the map, in JPG format, go to http://www.wildyorkshireway.co.uk/track.php and click the Route Map button at the bottom right. It's about 3Mb so it might take a while if you're on a dodgy connection, or live in Dodworth.
