Daughter had to catch a train back to York yesterday, after her football match in Grimethorpe. Train fare from Moorthorpe station £8. Yet the trainfare from Meadowhall (several stops further away on the same line, same train) was £3.95. What's that about?
My mate had a return ticket to Glasgow where he was working. He got injured and was brought home by car. We went to the railway station to ask if there was a refund on the return leg and was told (tongue in cheek obviously) that we actually owed them money as the return fare was cheaper than a single!
I was gunna go watch that game. But my little lad was playing at Hemsworth and match was started before we got back. Wasn’t bobby Hassell in dugout?
meadowhall to York has at least 3 different routes, im not sure if the cheap fare is to direct people at meadowhall onto the puffer through the dearne valley keeping them of the mainline route via donny?
It works as far as my daughter is concerned. It takes about an hour to York and she can get there for £4 instead of twice the price in the other route.
bought my lads ticket home yesterday, £58 from mex, but get on 1 stop earlier it was £34 from swinton! the advanced ticket option didn't work from mex for some reason
They all pass via leeds. Its down to grants subsidies and county lines as to the fare. Its a right **** about but if you work out the correct ticketing you halve your costs.
Be a border issue then. Each town council funds things differently for each kind of pass in terms of subsidies added to cross boundary travel...
