Just back from a trip to London. Two recommendations : Come From Away - Musical about the aftermath of 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland, following the story of misplaced passengers - absolutely fantastic. The Sky Garden on Fenchurch Street. 35th storey viewing gallery with panoramic views over the city - enabling you to pick out all the landmarks, football stadia, etc. Free of charge, although you have to book 3 weeks ahead. (We managed to drop on) There are bars and restaurants up there but no obligation to buy. Brilliant way to spend an hour or two. https://skygarden.london
Thanks for the tip, I particularly like the idea of the Sky Garden which I've never thought of for London. (I don't know why).
The sky garden is really popular. Not been myself but the missus has been quite a few times and really enjoys it. I quite like the view from the meridian timeline atop the hill in Greenwich, and the views from Highgate and Archway bridge are pretty good too. Though my favourite is still primrose hill before wandering the local shops and through to either Camden or regents park.
Agree about the sky garden re booking in advance. Went about 8 o’clock one evening. It was 1in, 1out, the queue went all round the side and back of building. 1 of us watched how the queue was faring. Think 2 went in. In 1/4 hr while we were there. Gave it up as a bad job. Asked 1 or 2 halfway round. Said they’d queued 1 and 1/2 hrs. Ps love London been umpteen times. Allus lots to see. Theatre. Museums (lots free) buildings. List goes on. Not forgetting Pubs some reasonably priced if you care to look round .. never understood the don’t like it. Full of foreigners brigade.
I worked for 3 years in the building next to the Walkie Talkie, before it was built. I had the lovely views you mentioned every day then as the Walkie Talkie slowly went up so disappeared the views!
Another free gem is the pub in the shard. 3/4 of way up. Pricey on the drink/s £6 for a bottle. But better than paying silly money to go to the top viewing platform. Beware the lift leaves your stomach at the bottom whilst at the top. Toilets weird. Urinals facing fully glassed panels so you can enjoy the view. Whilst having a Jimmy riddle. Went 1/2hr b4 dusk. The views in daylight and nightlight are stunning. As fired said re the garden. You do not have to have a drink. But it’d be rude not to.
My favourite view in London is watching hammill smash one in whenever he wants from wherever he wants.
Apparently, there’s a club in London where you can eat the finest food, drink the best champagne and have loads and loads of sex. I haven’t been but
