British woman 'arrested in Dubai after reporting rape' A British woman has been charged with having extra-marital sex in Dubai after reporting she was raped, according to a UK-based legal advice group. The Detained in Dubai group said the woman was arrested after she claimed she was raped by two British men. It said she has been released on bail but her passport has been confiscated. The Foreign Office said: "We are supporting a British woman in relation to this case and will remain in contact with her family." The woman, who is in her 20s, was reportedly attacked by two men from Birmingham while she was on holiday.
Unfortunately its not unbeliveable. Sharia law is not good for women in this respect. It seems a bit grey but Rape can only be proven if the rapist confesses or there are at least 4 male witnesses. In some countries the absence of a proof of rape is considered that adultery or fornication has taken place. There are documented cases of women being put to death or given other severe punishment - due to the fact they admit extra marital sex but cant prove rape http://www.aina.org/news/20081117111817.htm https://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/03/saudi-sharia-court-sentences-gang-rape-victim-to-200-lashes
No great surprise there. It's happened before and will again. It's a barbaric and quite frightening situation that appears to be ignored by the mainstream media when it somes to extolling the delights of Dubai and such places. Dubai seems to have two faces in the most extreme sense.
Dubai, UAE and Saudi Arabia are.... ...the epitome of technologically advanced, oil rich, countries flaunting their wealth through ostentatious futuristic city buildings with showy skyscrapers, billionaires with luxury villas, overseas properties and luxury cars but, on the other side of the coin a cultural end religious outlook mired somewhere in the 14th Century. The income gap between rich and poor is staggering.
Re: Dubai, UAE and Saudi Arabia are.... Maybe a couple mate I live there, in fact i'm just on my way out to watch the golf. In truth it's not all bad, everyone knows the rules and as long as you abide by them you'll be OK. (not in the women's case though)
Re: Dubai, UAE and Saudi Arabia are.... I read this story the other day and I couldn't get my head around how in this day and age it could happen.
