Non League Football Going Down the Swanny

totally inept leadership. the clubs were promised loans to play the season if it started without fans, theres no covid testing taking place at all unless each club did it voluntarily. the initial grant provided by national lottery was distributed unfairly by the NL board and now the next round of funding is needed.

National league clubs have been offered a choice of 3 options

1. Take a loan from DCMS
2. the National league take a loan from DCMS and grant money to clubs paid back per season
3. suspend the season

theres loads of clubs coming out today and saying they do not intend to play this weekends fixtures irrespective of the above anyway.

 

If there's one job the associations charged with looking after football need to do its look after the little clubs that give strength to the clubs above them. The money clubs will look after themselves.

 

All this money bouncing around in the upper tiers of football and this is still happening. Absolutely disgraceful and shortsighted.

 

Step 2 (national league north and south) have gone null and void.

step 1 (national league) have voted to change the constitution, separate the leagues and play on. It protects promotion to the EFL and protects themselves against relegation. There’s still loads of clubs refusing to play so it’s not quite done and dusted
