His anyone watched this?

If you are someone who lived through the 80s and the emergence of AIDS then this will definitely strike a chord.

Whatever your opinions on the topic i defy anyone to watch this and not be moved in some way.

Written by Dr Who writer Russell T Davies.

Also stars the great Barnsley actor Shaun Dooley.

 

Some of my mates have watched it and said it's essential but very hard going. One of my friends who's quite a bit older than me was a regular on the party scene in London and Brighton in the early and mid 80's. He's straight himself, but he's told me how gay friends were dropping like flies and it was terrifying. One was a 6ft bodybuilder who turned into a skeleton in under a year. Sounds beyond horrendous.

 

I heard an interview with the producer on radio 4 a few weeks back. Will watch this Hardly anything decent on C4 these days, so missed this.

 

Unbelievably moving. I don't ever get emotional at TV shows, but I was welling up a few times.

 

You wont be disappointed.

 

It’s a fantastic show. Very sad moments in it. A must watch, but go in prepared...

 

Watched 3 episodes last night. Fantastic.

 

I was about 15 or 16 when this was first aired (even on the BBC).

Hard hitting but also scary as hell.

 

Watched it all in one go with my daughter.had forgotten quite how scary it all was, that advert was way worse than the covid ones. People literally believing you could get it from touching someone. And it was a death sentence.

Beautifully written, acted and directed.

 

Binged watch it. Olly Alexander for a singer can act good. Decent cast with Shaun Dooley and Keeley Hawes playing his parents and then having the pulling power to get Neil Patrick Harris on board and Stephen Fry.

What an awful time it was but it was written beautifully.

 

I thought it was brilliant. Keeley Hawes was outstanding.

Binged it this afternoon as the match was off. Absolutely fantastic, some great performances, but Keeley in the final episode was outstanding.

But then she's outstanding for me in most things she does ;-)

As Helen says, the combination of brilliant writing together with a cast of actors that are amazing makes this a must watch.

 

I didn’t find it too heavy Farnham. There’s a lot of humour in it so it’s a bit ‘sunshine and shade’.

It’s one of those programmes where you actually give a toss about the characters. Well worth the effort.
