Agree. Almost makes sense why they've talked about him being an option wide right.

He was very poor first half, as was most of the team, but much improved second.

I think I'm falling in love with Vickers though. Even when he isnt performing as well, he's working his knackers off. Brilliant player.

Farrugia and Phillips on the right, Vickers and Ogbeta on the left.
    Not a bad set up.

I’d love to have a conversation with whoever found him & decided they were going to convert him into a left wing back.

He’s quite clearly a winger. Obviously not even in the same stratosphere ability wise but his physical attributes remind me of Gareth Bale when he started playing on the right.

Farrugia was god awful in the first half at left back or wherever the chuff he was supposed to be playing - at times he was playing higher than vickers up the left and then drifting off into midfield - he made the side completely disjointed and vulnerable to the big hoof over the top .

fair play in the second half though - he was really good wide right - his final ball was poor at times , but if it wasn’t he wouldn’t be in a barnsley shirt

a couple of other mentions - I thought Adam Phillips was excellent after he came on (hold on to potatoes YT!) and did the one thing I’ve wanted him to do - get his shoe in !!

Farrell up top looks very comfortable and we could have a decent player on our hands there - a big lad for only 19 (I think I’ve got that right) and showed some nice touches . This is where the older heads come in (in my opinion ), in that he’s got to be picking things up from mcgoldrick about his all round play etc

He played on the right at Emley in a friendly and, I know it was only Emley, but he looked a completely different player to the one we've been trying to awkwardly shoehorn into the left back position.

    Excellent second half from Farrugia.
He's had plenty of stick on here, but, as always, players need time to settle and get to know each other's game.
Give the lad some time and then let's make our mind up.
Patience required as this team grows and develops.

Farrugia was excellent in the 2nd half. I reckon he was the force behind the come-back. Message is clear - play well forward..

Farrell's shooting was very poor for a forward though, but I agree some of his touches and passes were nice. He gets in some decent positions too

I've liked the look of him for a while, I think main thing is just his injuries. Hopefully stays fit and we've got a player on our hands up top I hope!

What doesn't make sense is after telling us that he's not a left back but he looks a good option in a front three, and after selecting him in a front three in preseason, Conor gives him his first start of the season at left back. It's very difficult not to become exasperated at times. And you couldn't have asked for a better example of what Conor was saying in tonight's match. Conor just needs to listen to himself now and take his own advice.

I think Farrugia alluded to it in his post match interview bud, he said he was told to act basically as a winger behind Cleary/Vickers(when they swapped). So I'm assuming we were hoping to do some serious doubling up down that side, but I think it's fair in saying it backfired...

Vickers reminds me of Hammill with some of the things he does
