As many of you know, I am married to a Wednesday fan (a result of an on the pitch half time proposal during the Barnsley - Wednesday game in the Premier League). By some coincidence, my youngest daughter was born during a Wednesday - Barnsley game in 2004. We listened to the match commentary as she was being delivered. On Saturday, she’s leaving home - to Uni - again as Wednesday play Barnsley. That will be the second time she’s saved me from a defeat at Hillsborough. The first time was a 2-1 defeat, Robbie Williams’ penalty just after she was born. She’s a Red, kind of. Deffo not an Owl.
Not that, you silly sausage. The proposal! Half-time entertainment is usually a bit naff at Oakwell, but that one was very nicely done.
Remember it well. Ginger haired lass running to the halfway line whilst the Wednesday fan ran from the kop. Barnsley fans shouting "Say no"
The one time a woman can not feel embarrassed into saying yes as she’d get cheers either way. Barnsley fans would have a field day if she’d said no and obviously everyone likes a ‘yes’, even rival fans.
