Was successful a few months ago in gaining a place on the Reds in the Community education pathway, so another E Winstanley will be spending the next few years down at Oakwell. His Grandad was so proud when we told him what he wanted to do upon leaving school and that he had been accepted. The reason I am posting this is because yesterday Ethan received an email from Mark Crossfield, who heads up the operation passing on his condolences with a lovely message about his Grandad. If there was ever any doubt that Ethan had selected the right path to take, then that email demolished any minor trepidation. Our club is amazing, the people around the place ooze class and carry themselves with honour. This is what it means to be from Barnsley and support BFC. Ive thanked Mark for his email personally, it meant a great deal. What a club.
Good luck to Ethan and lovely that he was able to make his Grandad proud by being accepted and carrying on the Winstanley dynasty at Oakwell!
There's a saying that.. if you do the little things well, then the big things will look after themselves.. It's the little things that matter... Well done Bfc..
Mate - just sorting the office at home & found this. Think it came with bubble gum or summat as there's an 'anglo confectionery' reference on the back. It might have originally come from the great man himself, via Gill's family.....can't quite remember how I ended up with it. Let me know if you want it.
As you say 'what a club'! A club I've followed since the days of Pat Kelly, Johnny Kelly, Gavin Smith, George Robledo, Eddie McMorran, Cecil McCormack, lol Chappell, Danny Blanchflower and co. And what a great Dad whom I watched many times. And on a personal note, although now in my eighties the words that helped most on the departure of my Dad was 'Your Dad will know exactly how you are feeling because he also lost his Dad'. Please be assured that I mean you no offence but merely add that in the hope it might help you.
I remember Anglo bubbly, it was pink and individually wrapped. Penny a piece at the corner shop. More to the point I remember collecting those cards, though goodness knows what happened to em.
