Crackers if they go for either IMO, any manger other than an established 'name' will be on a hiding to nothing and already judged by the fans,,,,just like Hecky was at Weeds
Middlesbrough always seem to attract the big names and I can't understand why? They aren't as big as they were in the nineties yet spend loads on players and recruit the best available manager at that moment in time.
I'd read that they had interviewed John Terry as well. They need a good experienced Coach who can develop players. Their recruitment and salary cap needs to be reviewed.
I firmly believe that Daniel Stendel and Chris Stern are really settled with us and don't have any intentions of leaving. The piece on Chris on the Official Club website is great. It serves to underline his commitment and also confirms in my mind what I have thought all along in that our present " management" team, never stop thinking or planning of the best ways to take the Club forward. Chris's enthusiasm is there for all to see, especially in the matchday clips that Whitey and colleagues put on here for us to enjoy. Enthusiasm and positivity is infectious, so much so, that it genuinely does appear that our Coaches and the majority of our squad outwardly look to be totally " together" and are loving life at Oakwell. Interesting to read that Chris has his family in Barnsley with him and makes no secret of the fact that he's settled in the area and holds the local people and our fans who have made Daniel and himself so welcome, in the very highest regard. What the two of them have achieved in such a short space of time, is nothing short of amazing. New Country, totally new environment, language /dialect difficulties, different currency, routine, water/diet, driving on the "wrong side of the road, time zone etc. etc, but one common overriding denominator- a love of football. As soon as he arrived, Daniel threw himself into life in South Yorkshire joining in with the locals in the pub watching the World Cup. Let's not forget, that was in mid June 2018. Here we are some ten and a bit months later celebrating our return to the Championship. Even the defection of his right hand man Winkler didn't faze him, he simply got on with the job. It's probably being too ambitious to expect more of the same come August, because it will take time for "everyone" to find their feet in the Championship. As Daniel has already said, " bigger teams, bigger grounds, bigger support". Hope I'm not wrong in thinking that if we can hold on to Stendel and Stern and our better players, a bigger, better and more enjoyable period in the Clubs history, might well be a possibility.! One thing appears certain, we appear to be on the right track.
If Middlesbrough were even slightly interested in either a bookies would be offering odds on them, which none are....... https://www.oddschecker.com/footbal...ddlesbrough/manager-on-1st-day-of-next-season
I spoke with my nephew who is at Celtic two days ago, the word in Scotland is that Hecky is doing great at Hibs and highly thought of. Boro would be a poisoned chalice for him.
Chris sterns children went to school opposite to where I used to live. Always talking to people and saying hello, good morning etc etc. I know it's not much but it was brilliant to see a football coach just living a normal life. From what the people I know at the club say, they say hes a brilliant guy.
