My Dad has a problem that I dont know how to help with. He want to change his microsoft password. When he put in his account he put his home landline number in. Now if he tries to change his password it wants to send a code to it for him to enter - but he doesnt get any code - its a landline so doesnt get texts It looks like you can only change to add his mobile if he first validates against his original number Does anyone know how to get round this. There must be a way to change the phone for example if you havent got that number anymore but I cant find one
If they send a txt to the landline, he should get it. Alternatively there should be a number to ring somewhere, I remember years ago having to call them over a hardware change, it was a quite straightforward process.
Try this link, hopefully it may help. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-code-to/c872f089-de82-434b-b4fe-8accbcb45e8f
If you really cant get the recovery password then fill out the account recovery form You can get them to email these things though or call the number on file. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...ery-form-b19c02d1-a782-dee6-93c3-dc8113b20c42
Thanks - Will try again tomorrow - hopefully I can get a text but if not will try the recovery options - if they can call the number on file that should be enough
Had a similar problem recently with a Microsoft password after the infamous may 2020 update trashed my computer. Mine was actually a local password to get into the computer. I set up a new user from bios. Google create new admin user from safe mode.
If you can click "Forgotten password" and follow the instructions, you should be able to do it via e-mail. That's what I did a few months ago.
