Just been looking at the plans for the new bridge, whilst it looks great I have a concern around the location !
Going from the interchange side towards Oakwell you will come out in the car park meaning to get to Bala street you will have to cross over under the flyover or very close, cars or rather drivers never know who has right of way and it could lead people getting run over on a regular basis.

And getting run over just the once should be enough for anyone!

As part of the planning process they already identified that the walkway to oakwell isn't good enough and they are going to change it quite a bit. Not sure what that means however apart from proper crossings maybe

Unless they realigned the road, or attempted to purchase part of the bingo car park, there’s nowhere else for the bridge to land on that side. Imagine the uproar if they spent more money to do this when there’s plenty of council owned land in the car park! They’re taking out the parking bays in that top row so it won’t technically land ‘in’ the car park, but adjacent to it. The wall is being taken down to open up the space. From what I hear they’ll be adding a pedestrian crossing on that side too. Not that it matters to football fans, the rules of the road clearly change on match days anyway.
