We've refused to let Hull extend his loan deal. He can only play in the next two games for them, then he'll return. Fair play to the club - we could've let him stay there and had his wages paid for a couple more weeks, but we're weakening a relegation rival instead. They've not been able to agree extensions with Jackson Irvine, Marcus Maddison & Eric Lichaj, so they'll be weakened further. https://www.hullcitytigers.com/club-update-player-contracts/ Daniel Ayala is refusing to play for Middlesbrough too. Sounds as though he has a move lined up, with Leeds mentioned. Coronavirus may end up being a helping hand in our relegation battle.
So will there be players available for signing at the end of June? It will be interesting if any teams on the edge of promotion/relegation hire mercenaries for a few weeks...
I doubt it. The usual rule is that a player can't be signed on a free transfer if they're registered with another club at 31st January. I'd imagine that will still apply with it still being the same season. I'd assume our returning loan players aren't eligible either, Sibbick, Miller, etc, but I could be wrong.
They’re in real trouble Hull, have been since January when they significantly weakened. Not sure it’ll be at our expense though.
Shame we messed up so badly in the summer so we won't be able to capitalise on everyone else being a mess. I'd like to see Wilks given a go next season in L1, should be useful
Since they cut up rough about paying us for Angus Mcdonald fair enough BUT I think as he was there for the season if it was any 9th error club we should have extended it like we have for Cam.
1 any player out of contract can sign for any club I believe at any time, even if the loan window closes. That’s why some get. Released early. 2 when loan deals end. They can play for their parent club. Unless new rules have been brought in that I’m not aware of.
Because his loan ends on June 30, which should have been beyond the end of 'the season'. But 'the season' is continuing beyond that date. He can't play for anyone other than Hull 'this season', whether it ends in July or December - but because his loan period only runs until the end of June, we can bring him back after that. In future, such deals will be 'until the end of the season' and not 'until such-and-such-a-date', I would think, and it'll be the same with player contract expiry dates.
Once a player has signed on loan for a club during the January transfer window, he is unable to play for his parent club until the following season.
Interesting - maybe I am wrong, then! My above post is 'what I understand' and not 'what is definitely, without doubt correct'.
Dane specifically stated in his Zoom interview, that these returning loan players cannot play for us this season.
Thanks lil on the first item. I’d misinterpreted the fact that a season would Normally end in May. And then available. Not sure on the second either. I thought if a player has his contract bought out at any stage in a season. He became a free agent and any club could sign him. Don’t know if owts been altered due to the situation as now. Please correct if wrong.
